Packing Tips

PLAN YOUR CLOTHING ACCORDING TO THE TIME OF THE YEAR AND SEASONS.

Research for the disparity of the climate and seasons regarding your planned travel destination. If you live in Alaska and you plan on traveling to Florida the climate and seasons vary drastically. Spend some time and effort in knowing beforehand how you need to dress for your travel destination. Plan accordingly for heavier or lighter clothing depending on the circumstances. Dress accordingly to enjoy your trip.

PACK ENOUGH CLOTHES FOR YOUR STAY.

Plan on having enough clothes for the determined amount of stay for your trip. Don’t over pack but also don’t under pack. Plan ahead for how many shirts, pants, blouses, dresses, underwear, and socks you will need.

PACK COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES AND TAKE NO MORE THAN 2 PAIRS.

Nothing is more painful than walking on concrete, asphalt, and other hard surfaces with uncomfortable shoes. If you buy a pair of shoes just for your trip, go ahead and test them out. Get accustomed to the right selection of shoes for your comfort level before going on your trip. Also don’t take too many shoes. Plan according to your trip. What kind of attractions or events will you be attending? And where? Will you be going on a hunting excursion requiring tough footwear? Then plan on taking some hunting boots. Will you be taking an inside tour in a museum? Then wear comfortable walking shoes. You get the idea, prepare adequately for your trip and don’t under or over prepare.

INVEST IN A SET OF QUALITY LUGGAGE FOR TRAVELING.

Purchase a good set of rolling luggage for any mode of traveling. It will make your traveling life easier.

BRING A LIGHTWEIGHT HOODED JACKET TO ADAPT FOR ALL TEMPERATURES AND CLIMATES.

A lightweight hooded jacket is an amazing piece of clothing attire. If you get too hot, just remove your jacket. If you are too cold, just put your jacket on. I consider a lightweight hooded jacket to be a necessary item of clothing. When rain, a hood will protect you from getting your hair wet.

BRING YOU A SET OF COMFORTABLE EARPLUGS.

Ear plugs for traveling help block out noises that disrupt your sleep. You never know when you might need to use them. Do you like to read books? I do. Use comfortable earplugs when reading to compliment your quiet time.

PACK YOU SOME EARBUDS.

Listen to your favorite podcast while traveling or waiting in line for your next attraction. It keeps your listening pleasures private without any distraction to others in your group or those around you.

PACK A SMALL FIRST AID KIT.

First Aid Kits supplied with dressings, bandages and Band-Aids are a must, especially if you have small children. Children might scrape their knee or elbow and need that special attention. Should you plan to hike you need to consider a first aid kit designed for backpacking.

BUY EXTRA MEMORY CARDS TO MAKE SURE YOU CAPTURE EACH SPECIAL PHOTO.

Photos take up a lot of memory, especially if you take a lot of pictures. And you should snap all the pictures you want! Have a few extra memory cards just in case you need them.

CARRY A SMALL BAG FOR DIRTY LAUNDRY.

Where will you put your dirty laundry? Don’t bring a laundry basket from home on your trip. Plan on carrying a small bag with you for your dirty laundry. Now if you really want to be economical just use trash bags! But don’t mistakenly throw away your dirty laundry with your regular trash.

PACK EXTRA TOILET PAPER.

You might be thinking why pack extra toilet paper? If you travel much, and I have, eventually you will need to stop to use the facilities and no toilet paper is available. The toilet paper roll is empty! If you plan ahead and pack extra toilet paper for your trip you can remedy this situation. There is always a need for extra toilet paper when at your accommodation. Usually, the hotel will bring extra upon your request but sometimes that might take a while. If you are camping, extra toilet paper is a must. So, prepare and pack extra toilet paper for your trip.
